Password Generator

Passwords are quickly becoming an obsolete means of authentication on the internet. But they are not going away any time soon. A strong password and good password management habits can go along way to help you secure your digital life. Below is a random password generator that will help you create strong passwords, but strong passwords are just a start. Here are three tips that are important to good password management.

** Updated** I have previously recommended Lastpass and until recently they have been a reputable password manager. Lastpass has been involved in several security incidents the last of which was a loss of their clients' backed-up encrypted password vaults. I no longer recommend Lastpass not exclusively because of the security incidents but because of the handling of the incidents, and the lack of disclosure to their clients.

  • Use different complex passwords for important websites like email, banking, shopping, etc.
  • Use a reputable password manager to store your password like Bitwarden or 1Password.
  • Last and most important use 2 factor authentication like google Authenticator if available.

  • Do your own research about passwords and password management, Check out Steve Gibson's Password Haystack page to get started. He does a really good job of explaining it in an easy to understand way.https://www.grc.com/haystack.htm
