I stumbled across this video, it was a TED talk in 2008 about the Large Hadron Collider at CERN.  Since the Discovery of a Higgs like particle I thought it was a good idea to post it.  Brian Cox, OBE does a good job explaining the Higgs particle and the role it plays in the universe.

A "supermoon"or perigee-syzygy is a full moon that during its elliptical orbit passes closest to the Earth. For more cool info visit this link. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Supermoon  We had to use the manual setting on our point and shoot camera, ISO 100  F/8 and 1/80 shutter speed.
We where on a whale watching cruise out of Monterey bay and where lucky enough to see a pod of Transient killer whales taking on a pod of 300+ Short-beaked common dolphins. It was so amazing watching these 5 killer whales split the pod of dolphins in half and drive half of them into deeper water and past our boat. When they split the pod they probably took a younger dolphin turned around in the confusion, all we saw of the kill was the juvenile whale jumping and playing and the birds cleaning up the scraps.

Hard science and a TV sitcom seems like a strange recipe for a successful TV show, but The Big Bang Theory makes it work.  This show speaks to every persons geek side through references from science fiction and comics to high level physics and advanced math.  The thing that sells the show is the science. Here is a great interview with David Saltzberg, science advisory to show, Link to Intierview. He also keeps up a blog about the research he does for each episode here is the link to his show blog Link to David's Blog.

Link to the science behind each episode of The Big Bang Theory.
